Members of the Geneva-Excelsior Lions Club support the following programs, plus others, through our fund raising efforts. When possible, personal involvement is also given. Some of the projects and organizations we have supported:

Balboa High School

Mission: The Balboa High School Alumni Association is formed for the purpose of promoting the welfare of Balboa High School. The corporation is organized exclusively for charitable and educational purposes, including for such purposes, the making of distributions to organizations which qualify as exempt organizations under Section 501(c)(3). Canine Companions for Independence

Canine Companions is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that enhances the lives of people with disabilities by providing highly trained assistance dogs and ongoing support to ensure quality partnerships. More here: Canine Companions


Clinic by the Bay

Clinic by the Bay is San Francisco’s Volunteers in Medicine clinic -- the 82nd VIM clinic in the country and the first in Northern California. Clinic by the Bay is a volunteer-powered free health clinic for the working uninsured. Our patients reside in San Francisco and San Mateo Counties.  As part of the national network of Volunteers in Medicine clinics, we engage retired and practicing doctors, nurses, and non-medical volunteers to provide compassionate, high quality health care, free of charge. Lions Clubs International Foundation

Their mission: “To support the efforts of Lions clubs worldwide in serving their local communities and the world community as they carry out essential humanitarian service projects.” More here: Lions Clubs International Foundation


Lions Eye Foundation of California & Nevada, Inc.

Their mission: To preserve and restore the gift of sight by providing free ophthalmic examinations, operations, and medication to the less fortunate members of our community.
The Lions Eye foundation of California-Nevada, Inc. (LEF) is a 501(c)(3) corporation that has been in existence over 55 years. For the past half century LEF has come to the aid of needy residents of Northern California and the entire state of Nevada requiring eye surgeries. Sponsored by local community-based lions clubs, LEF has grown the initial 19 member clubs to 338 member clubs representing over 10,000 individual members. More here: Lions Eye Foundation


Lions Wilderness Camp for Deaf Children, Inc.

Founded as the “Lions of California – Nevada Wilderness Camp for Deaf Children” in 1980, this original purpose was declared: “To provide wilderness camping facilities, experiences, educational opportunities, health care and counseling for hearing impaired children.” More here: Wilderness Camp


San Francisco Adult & Teen Challenge

San Francisco Adult & Teen Challenge is a Christian discipleship program for men ages 18 and up that are dealing with life controlling issues such as drug addiction, alcoholism, and violence.  We are a year long residential treatment facility, that provide the men who are willing to get free from a life of addiction, the tools to live a healthy and clean lifestyle beginning with God as being the leader of there lives. Occasional Donations

Excelsior Youth Center: Known locally as the Excelsior Youth Center, the Clubhouse opened in 1998 as part of an initiative to bring much needed youth services to the Excelsior District. This Boys & Girls Club works in partnership with the Excelsior Community School located next door to provide access to the Club’s gymnasium and to encourage youth to participate in the Club’s strong after-school programs. Boys & Girls Clubs of San Francisco functions under three-year contracts with the Department of Children, Youth, and Their Families to operate this Clubhouse. More here: Excelsior Clubhouse

Bayview Opera House: Their Mission: To serve as the focal point for Art and Culture in the Bayview Hunters Point Community by providing accessible, diverse, and high - quality arts education, cultural programs and community events in a safe environment. More here: Bayview Opera House
